Homeschool Curriculum Standards: Checklists to Print per Grade

Use printable curricula guide checklists to plan next year's course of study or evaluate as you go.
The following curriculum guides represent a typical course of study generalized across North America. Curriculum standards may also be referred to as "academic learning requirements" or "grade level expectations" depending on local terminology.
Academic learning requirements do not dictate any particular teaching method or learning style. They simply provide general performance expectations for each grade level. Homeschool parents and children may meet performance expectations through any chosen course of study or educational method.

Printable Curriculum Standards Checklists

The following curriculum standards guides provide general learning requirements for grade levels from preschool through twelfth grade. Each grade level curriculum guide includes general subject categories and lists of topics to cover. Overall, the general subject categories include Social Studies, Science, Language Arts, Health and Safety, and Mathematics.
The printable curriculum guides above were based on the World Book Typical Course of Study, which provides a curriculum guides for preschool through high school. World Book publishes an overview of common courses of study generalized across North America. The overview is based on the Nault-Caswell-Brain Analysis of Courses of Study, the Nault-Fischer-Passow Analysis of Courses of Study, and the Caswell-Nault Analysis of Courses of Study, as well as a survey of contemporary courses of study, curriculum guides, syllabuses, and other instructional publications with analyses and reviews by curriculum experts.
Curriculum standards checklists provide homeschool parents with a convenient tool for planning and evaluating each homeschool year. Additionally, a posted curriculum checklist provides homeschool students with an easy source of ideas for topics to study and a quick reference of general requirements.

Arts and Craft Display Night

Hi Everyone!
Arts and Craft Display Night will be Monday, February 6th at Butte Creek Baptist in Eagle Point at 6:30!
Let me know if you can come and whether your child will need a whole 8 foot table or just half.  We cannot tack anything on the walls, so those tri-fold display boards have worked well in the past and recycle nicely!  We have had a great turnout in the past and it is always exciting to see what our talented and gifted children are doing!  Also, we might want to consider having the children (if they are comfortable) presenting in front of the parents and friends.
It would be nice if there were snacks for everyone to munch on, and if we all brought a little something the burden would not be too great for any family.  Please apprise us of any serious allergies, so those foods can be avoided.

In the future we can plan for:

March 5th    - Geography Fair (pick a country and present facts about it and share a food from that place)  hmm, food seems to be a common theme
April 2nd     - Reading /Writing Fair (how can I incorporate food?)  Maybe we could make something that is mentioned in the book, short story or poem?  Speeches would be appropriate here too!
May 7th      - Talent Show
June  4th     - Pet Show?  Maybe outside so we could bring our pets in the flesh instead of just writing about them!

I hope to hear from everybody!  Blessings, Cathy  541-865-4370, anytime after 6AM  or email at: cbeemer44@yahoo.com

Classical Conversations is rapidly expanding in our area, and we are excited to see all the new families that will be blessed in the future. There are currently two CC communities in Medford, and one in Grants Pass.

Mission Statement of CC:

The purpose of education is to know God and to make Him known.

Our purpose is to lead the home-centered education movement by equipping parents and students with the classical tools of learning needed to discover the order and beauty of God's creation and to inspire others to do the same.

We empower and support parents not only through our Classical Conversations Communities across the country but also through our specially designed CC Connected online community, Parent Practicums, and academic retreats. All of these services ultimately equip parents to educate their children with the classical tools of learning and a biblical worldview so that they might impact the world for God's glory.

Christian Music Night at Roller Odyssey

'Tis rollerskating time again! You can invite others; they just need to rsvp to me as well.
Christian Music Night at Roller Odyssey

First Thursday of the Month
Thursdays, Jan 5 & Feb 2
6:30-8:30

Admission $4.00 as long as enough people RSVP and show up! :-)
Includes Quad Skate Rental
Inline Rental additional $2.25
I need to get the reservation in by Wednesday, so RSVP asap. Please arrive BEFORE 6:30. You can pay individually (as long as you’re on my list for the discount), but we need to have enough people there at once to get the discount and enter as a group. If you arrive too late, you may need to pay the $6/skater fee. Call/email me ASAP how many skaters you will have there for THIS Thursday night.
Marti Hill
541-879-1600

PS Starting this month, Roller Odyssey has changed their group discount structure for the Christian music skate night. $4/skater is the lowest discount rate available due to the quad skates being included in the price. (No skates are included in the prices for other skate times. The skates are an additional charge for those sessions.) Even if you bring your own skates, the price will not go lower…I already asked.

Coming Soon: HSG FOR SALE/WANTED Monthly Bulletin

Recently, I asked if there was interest in a book or curriculum swap or a one-time "FOR SALE" bulletin going out the the homeschool community. One family suggested having something like this available all the time. I think this is a great idea, but I want to see what you think! We do have a few existing options here for buying/selling our usable homeschool items~
  1. Professor Mom's offers used curriculum & homeschool supplies on consignment.
  2. The Yahoo Groups for JCHE and URHE (possibly others) give you immediate postings via email.
  3. The annual JCHE Used Curriculum Sale in June.
HSG proposal: To compile a monthly HSG FOR SALE/WANTED bulletin to be distributed on the 1st of each month. Professor Mom's has agreed to give me a list of their "Top 10" consignment items to be added to the list of available items. If you have homeschool items you need now or items would like to try selling before June, please email me before this Friday. (February deadline: Jan 27th)

We will give this a try and see how it goes, so even if you don't have buy/sell items right now, please be sure to let me know if you want to see this continue!
Thanks,
Tika

"...There is a lady connected with the Pregnancy Resource Center who specializes in giving speeches to young people on abstinence. I don't really know how we could rally the homeschool troops so to speak, but it is an interesting idea. Also they offer field trips through their place complete with ultra sound machine...."
