Colonial Dancing

Dancing in colonial times was a social event- a chance to talk to neighbors, to discuss politics or exchange homemaking ideas. New people in town were introduced at a ball. The act of dancing with someone new was a form of welcome and a non-threatening way to get to know someone. It gave young men practice in gentlemanly behavior and provided a safe venue for socializing.

The Liberty Tree Dance group was started 3 1/2 years ago to introduce Colonial dancing to the Rogue Valley. We meet every 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month at 6 pm at the Evergreen Ballroom. Colonial Dance is great for all ages. No experience is required just a willingness to learn and a sense of humor.
