Bread Making Class

*Update on the dates for the class*  Friday, March 9th and March 30th at 3:00 pm

Does your family enjoy eating delicious homemade bread? Each child or parent will learn how easy it is to make a loaf of bread and will bring home a freshly milled hot loaf for the family. We will learn about the ingredients in bread and why they are used as well as the many uses of bread dough. Making homemade bread is a good way to stretch the family budget.

The class size is small due to the limited number of loaves that can be baked at one time. Classes will be held on Friday, March 9th and March 23rd at 3:00. The cost is $15.00 for the first family member and will include a loaf of bread. Additional family members will be $10.00 and will include another loaf of bread.

Please call Debbie Ripley to sign up. 541-535-3992. We live at 2950 David Lane, Medford. (Our home is a short trip from the freeway behind the Home Depot)

Judges Needed for Upcoming Speech & Debate Tournament!

I've been a Community Judge for the last 2 years and it is an AMAZING thing to witness! These homeschool students work so hard and I encourage you to attend or judge if you can. No experience necessary!
Tika

The Clarion Forensics Speech and Debate Club is excited to announce that we are hosting the Clarion Qualifier for Region II of the National Christian Forensics and Communications Association! This tournament will host competitors from around our multi-state region. Top competitors from this tournament will be qualified to compete at the Regional tournament in May. This three day event will be in Medford, Oregon from March 1-3. We invite you to help make this event possible as a community judge. No experience in debate or judging is needed. We would be honored to have you participate as a judge in this event.

The National Christian Forensics and Communications Association (NCFCA) is the third largest high school speech and debate league in the nation, comprised of home educated middle and high school students from 44 states. For more information, please visit: http://www.ncfca.org/ .

This is the last of several qualifying tournaments that will be held around our region. We can only provide this opportunity to students with the participation of many community, parent and alumni judges. We will provide an essential, but relatively brief, non-technical, orientation for you on the day you choose to judge at the tournament. We have a team that will be providing food and beverages for our judges throughout each day.

This event will include 10 speech events and 2 types of debate. On the judge registration page, you will be able to mark the time slot you are available to judge and whether you would like to judge speech or debate. Of course, we would love to have you judge more than one event, but are very happy if you can come to judge even one event. We think you will enjoy watching these student presentations. You should expect that judging one round, including an orientation and time to complete your ballot will take 2 – 2 ½ hours. The judge registration page will instruct you about the arrival time for the round you choose to judge.

To accept our invitation to judge please link to the following page:

http://www.ncfca.org/

Once you are on that page, please select the far right tab that says “judges”, on the next screen, you will click on the portion of the US Map for our region (the red Region II). From there, you will select the Clarion Qualifier and then be able to complete your registration and select your judging time.

Location: Bethel Church
4245 Vista Pointe Drive
Medford, OR 97524

Thank you for considering your participation as a judge.

If you have questions about judging or have difficulty with the registration process, please contact Steve Moore, judges@clarionforensics.com or 541-830-8047.

If you need to contact someone on the day of the tournament, please contact our Judge Greeter, Kathy Mikels at 541-218-0160.

TOS article on Homeschool Support Groups

Great article on Homeschool Support Groups in this month's issue of The Old Schoolhouse Magazine! This is the goal and vision of The HS Gathering♥ I'd love to hear your feedback!

www.thehomeschoolmagazine-digital.com
‎"While homeschool cooperatives share the task of teaching each other's children, the main purpose of support groups is to bring homeschool families together for encouragement."
